Senior Accountant
Boulder, CO :: Accounting/Finance

We seek an experienced, results-driven Senior Accountant who thrives in a dynamic and fast paced business environment. The ideal candidate is one who has been a top academic performer with a proven track record of on-the-job performance and has a desire to excel in a high-energy growth environment.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for understanding complete payroll process and recording of all payroll activity in a timely manner with the ability to identify and analyze changes and errors
- Responsible for preparation and analysis of various monthly accruals including PTO, payroll and related payroll taxes, bonuses, and commissions
- Review and interpret commission plans in order to calculate monthly commission earnings while coordinating communication, approval and payment for all domestic and international sales teams
- Maintain changes in allocation set ups and prepare monthly expense allocation entries for all entities
- Responsible for reviewing purchase contracts for proper accounting treatment under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applying decisions to systematic process for accrual and expense recognition
- Work with PO owners to drive timely and accurate PO set up and management
- Research outdated purchase orders, and work with PO owners to close unnecessary PO’s and to ensure accurate accrual of expenses
- Work with IT, FP&A and HR to ensure proper maintenance of Oracle set ups, and ensure that personnel information is accurate and consistent across systems including Oracle, HRB, and ADP for purchasing and expense report processes
- Review prepaid accounts to ensure accurate balances and amortization
- Responsible for preparation and analysis of general monthly accruals including both recurring and one time operational expenses
- Lead resolution of state, county and city level sales tax notices/audits and analyze the related balance sheet accounts
- Responsible for timely monthly balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis for responsibility areas
- Assist with assigned areas for quarterly internal financial package and quarterly financial review with auditors
- For areas of responsibility, drive system and business process enhancements to improve efficiency of processing data and proper period recognition of expenses as well as developing analysis that supports and analyzes the story of the financials
- Assist in the development, maintenance, and compliance of key accounting policies
- Identify opportunities for process improvements or automation and drive the implementation of the solution
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5+ years of accounting experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred
- CPA certification highly desired (or in process)
- Experience with a Big 4 accounting firm preferred
- Must be able to demonstrate a solid understanding of accounting principles with solid knowledge of US GAAP requirements
- Ability to effectively present information to management
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills including problem identification, analysis, action planning and execution
- Excellent planning, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Intermediate to advanced excel skills
- Oracle experience is desirable
- This position does not have any direct reports
