Senior Software Engineer, Core Development

Webroot is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Core Development team.  This Developer will perform product design, implementation, release testing, and beta support projects. The Developer will operate under minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will participate in the implementation of solutions that employ leading-edge technologies in a Win32 and Win64 kernel development environment. A high energy level, the ability to set and achieve goals, and great interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Estimate development schedules and determine project scope
  • Design and create code that meets design specifications, follows standards, is easy to maintain and is reasonably free from defects
  • Document the intended implementation, review it with others.
  • Fix kernel mode issues reported, and assist other engineers fixing their issues in both user and kernel modes
  • Troubleshoot and debug in-field and in-house defects
  • Communicate with other developers, product managers and technical support specialists on product issues
  • Work with QA team to ensure that the product is fully tested
  • Interface with Documentation to see that all enhancements, bug fixes, and new products are documented
  • Mentor team members on solutions to complex problems

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 6+ years proven work experience coding in C/C++ and/or Intel x86 Assembler Language
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft operating systems
  • Experience developing Windows Kernel Mode Device Drivers under Windows NT/2K/2K3/XP
  • Experience with NDIS, TDI, and other kernel-level networking interfaces is highly desired.
  • Expert knowledge of multi-processor multi-threaded synchronization
  • Experience with OS Filter Drivers
  • Expert knowledge of windows hooks, process/thread management, file system management, and memory management at the kernel level
  • Proficient using kernel debuggers (WinDBG, SoftIce, IDA) and Visual Studio
  • Knowledge of Object-Oriented Development Principles and UML or other structured design methodologies a plus
